Thanksgiving Day is coming on November 26, 2009 in the U.S. and if you haven't started already, this is the time to begin preparation. I'm sure you've already been bombarded with offers and ads for products that claim to be tasty and healthy, but certainly aren't.
If this is your first year on the natural food plan, the idea of making your Thanksgiving totally fake food free might seem a daunting task, but it's really not. Most traditional Thanksgiving recipes are quite old and easily made without the phoney food or "phood" as I like to call it. The natural version tastes better.
Draw inspiration from the meaning of the holiday. The European pilgrims and newcomers survived because Native Americans taught them how to find, grow, and eat in the land they were new to. So this year, use foods that are native to the Americas to make your Thanksgiving healthier, tastier, and more meaningful.
Over the next few days, I'll be posting recipes for the holiday in a special section. Also, stay tuned for the Christmas recipes that will feature Middle Eastern dishes, some of which have been around since the time of Christ. |
