Christmas and Chanukah

Since Jesus was Jewish and born in Israel, I think it's a good idea to eat the foods of this region during the Christmas and Chanukah season.  Here in Israel, it's unfortunately a time when hydrogenated oils and soy are everywhere.  The oil of choice for frying sufganiyot (Jewish jelly donuts) around here is soy oil because it's cheap, even though palm kernel oil and coconut oil can be reused more often.  I developed some of these recipes so my daughter and other people I know who prefer natural foods wouldn't feel so left out of the festivities.

Some of them though, are fairly modern Mediterranean holiday recipes, just made in a way that a Savta (Grandma) who doesn't fall for the hype would make them.
