Real Green Bean Casserole

This is my version of an old favorite, green bean casserole.  I don't use canned soup for this.  It takes a bit more time, but it's worth the effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg. fresh green beans
  • 1 large onion or 1/2 cup wild onions or leeks
  • 1 cup chopped white button mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans or hazelnuts
  • 1 cup full fat sour cream or yogurt
  • butter or animal fat
  • 1/8 cup vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons gray salt
